I was tasked with illustrating a T9 three column chance fracture that occurred in an automobile accident. I was told to include multiple views of the fracture pre-surgery and multiple views with the rods placed post-surgery.
Data was provided for the fracture as CT scans (for pre-op fracture) and X-rays (for post-op fracture) in the form of Dicom files. Therefore I used Horos to visualize the fracture and then I illustrated based upon that data.
The vertebrae illustrations were done in Photoshop and the rods and screws were modeled in Maya and then integrated into the piece using Photoshop.
