Function of Muscarinic Acetylcholine Receptor M1

This project was completed entirely in Adobe Illustrator. The goal was to show the interaction of the M1 receptor with acetylcholine and the subsequent reaction pathway that is triggered. The intended use was within a journal article, therefore the composition needed to fit into a 40 pica by 20 pica column.

Process

I was able to use multiple protein databases in order to get accurate representations of the M1 receptor and the associated three subunit G protein. Specifically one database I used was able to show the orientation of the receptor within the cell membrane which ensured even more accuracy in depiction.
